New classes and new stock

I (Jill) will be running an "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" card class soon. I'm thinking of using the Memory Box Poinsettia Ribbon die for the class - you will make at least 2 cards. We will play with clear embossing, some ink sprays, and some stamping. Keep an eye on the blog and on our Facebook page for more information. Here is one of the cards I think I'll use:

I have also received a sizeable order of new stock including a range of Memory Box dies and some stamps. If you didn't see these on Monday night, the stock will be on display in the shop this Saturday Sept 5th 10:00 am-2:00 pm. If you miss out or there are any Memory Box dies you 'need' please ask me.

If you came to the last Social Capers night, I have added new Kaleidoscope embossing powder to the butterflies on on of the cards I made from the demonstration. The powder is fabulous for butterfly and dragonfly wings, as well as for flowers and flourishes:

Classes will be held at the shop unless venue becomes unavailable.

What's black and white and red all over?

Probably showing my age here - joke from (primary) school days. No - it's not a sunburned zebra ... it's Jill's next card class.
The final cards are still a work-in-progress - I have to see if I can source some of the papers I've chosen, but here is a sneak peek. I will use at least two of the ideas pictured and hope to do three cards in the class.

Playing with Swing Cards

I've been having fun putting together some (fairly) quick and easy cards using the techniques I'll be teaching this weekend.
I will have a few kits available if people want to replicate them.

More Information

I am receiving a good response to the Distress reference book pictured below, but have been asked for more information. Classes will include you making your own set of colour swatch tags, exploring a variety of techniques for applying Distress Inks as you apply them to your book, and using the Inks and some of the Markers with stamps. Depending on my access to card stock and ribbon you may have homework after each class.
I will make sure I bring my book to the next Social Capers, and try to have it in the shop on days I am teaching there.

Distressed? No - I'm excited!!!

I (Jill) am looking for expressions of interest in the running a Distress Reference Book series of classes. Natalie and Fiona ran this some years ago based on the first range of Tim Holtz Distress Ink colours. Since then the range of colours has doubled. The original class was $30 per session over 4 sessions. The new series would be similarly priced. If you did the original Book this will give you a chance to update your colours. If you have a collection of inks and want a great reference and technique collection you won't want to miss this. If you are new to Distress Inks I will consider re-running an updated series of the original Book after these classes.
Please use the 'Comment' option below to register your interest in this series of 4 classes, as I will need to order the journals and tags.
Note - you would need to commit to all four classes - these could be one per week, per fortnight or one per month. I am thinking of starting late August depending on availability of supplies.

Another Class!

Jo will be running a class to make 3 cards using the All That Glitters paper range. You may have seen these on display in the shop. This class is running on Friday 24th July 9.30am. Cost $30. You can contact Jo on 0402 738363 to book your place, leave a message in the Comments section of this post or on the Facebook page. Places will be booked in order of replies received.

July Classes

Jo is running a scrapbook class on Saturday 11th July 9.30 am (See Facebook for picture).
You will make 2 pages in this class with lots of ideas to make your own back grounds with stencils and stamps.
Cost is $30

Jill will also be running ‘Getting more from your BigShot/Cuttlebug - Designing Your Own Swing Cards’ classes in July.  Class cost is $20.00. This class will use a die-cutting machine (Big Shot) and symmetrical dies. You will make paper templates, two simple swing card bases and go home with your samples, instructions and the ability to design more complicated cards using asymmetric dies.

You will NOT be making the cards shown on the Facebook page – they are to give an idea of what you can design once you have done the class!

Jill's class times are as follows:

Full Bloom

Inspired by Cindy Gilfillan's card in Cardmaking, Stamping & Papercraft, Jill has been playing with Distress Inks and Markers to make this:

The frame used is one of Jill's favourites - great for men's cards and clean and simple in style - it is a Spellbinders Diamond Effects die.
The stamp set of Darkroom Door Full Blooms One is another favourite.
Inks used are Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn and Tumbled Glass.
Markers used - Picked Raspberry, Iced Spruce and Tumbled Glass.
The foliage is from a Kaisercraft clear set - Pink Gelato.

Our new class schedule is published if you would like to have a look under Make and Take above.  Please note that we are offering Parchment classes for the first time.  If you would like to support our new teachers and learn a beautiful craft this is one that you might like to consider. 

Social Capers

Social Capers starts up for 2015 this Monday evening - 19th January at the Warwick Church of Christ

It is normally held on the last Monday evening of the month from 6.30pm to 9.30pm at the Warwick Church of Christ – 77 Ellersdale Drive Warwick.  Due to the public holiday on the 26th we are bringing it forward a week.

This is an evening for like minded paper crafters (although any crafters are welcome) of all kinds to come together and work on their projects of choice.  It is a chance to meet new people, share ideas and have a chat.
The cost of the evenings is $5 per person which  covers the cost of the venue and  tea and coffee. 
Some evenings we have free demonstrations and we also bring equipment and some basic products from the shop for you to purchase. 
If there is anything specific that you require let us know before COB on Monday and we can bring it with us, if we have it in store.

New Ranger Products are on the way!!

Hi

Ranger have just announced a couple of exciting things, well they were to me.  First up they have released three brand new colours in the Liquid Pearls - Rose Gold, Pewter and Bronze.  We have pre-ordered some for the shop so keep an eye out for more info.  Secondly Tim Holtz has  released a new colour in his "Distress" line - Pistachio.  Looks good but is also not yet available.  I will let you know when we get them in stock.

Filigree Boxes

Angie, one of our clever customers, has been busy after doing the Filigree Delights class and has produced lots of lovely useful Christmas boxes, changing sizes to suit the contents.
