Birthday cards

This display has been up in the shop for a few weeks now and has been very popular.

We used 8 different papers from Doodlebug all based on the birthday theme. Each print came in male and female colours.

There are some fancy folds in there and all but 1 of them (the first one) fit into a standard envelope.

Other items used to decorate this card include Stamp It stamps, Doodlebug stamps, Kaiser flowers, pearls, rhinestones, Staz On ink, Versamark pens and Scalloped Oval dies.

Below are the unmounted rubber stamps that we used from Stamp It. These stamps are available in store now.

Male cards

This layer of printed paper has been embossed with the Sizzix embossing folder (Clocks & Steampunk set). We then wiped an ink pad over the top of this layer to make the clocks stand out. Eyelet caps (these are eyelets with a cover on top) have been set in the centre of some of the clocks.

This card is so easy to make. The tuxedo is made up out of a black and white layer of card. The layers are folded into the centre (like a gate fold card), the white layer sits inside the black layer and the top is folded out to make the collar. The bow tie is hand cut and pearls and buttons are used to decorate.

Teddy in a vest

This little guy is so cute!!!!! He is an older design from Stamp It (3444d - Bear in a vest) but we have been using him in our Spectrum Noir classes as he is great for colouring in.
Bear in a Vest
To make the shirt background print use a silver sticker (in the shape of the shirt) on a piece of white card and colour the shirt in orange
(Spectrum Noir - OR1). Peel off the sticker and reposition it and colour it in again. Repeat 1 more time. Now do the same with the turquoise (BT5). Cut around the shirts and mount onto card base.

The bear is coloured in with the Spectrum Noir pens - BT4, BT5, GB8, GB10. He has been cut out and mounted onto the shirts. Adhere Pewter Pearls for his vest buttons.

Have you been in to see out male card display yet?
It will only be up for another week.
Make sure you come in to have a look and bring your camera.

The printed paper is adhered to the card base. Cut a piece of card to fit the die (Labels 2). Red and white Washi Tape is adhered to the outer edges of this layer. Cut the die from the card. This layer is mounted onto the card base. A smaller die is cut from silver foil board and mounted onto the red layer. Adhere a strip of Washi Tape to a piece of card. Adhere the silver car sticker over the tape and cut around the edges. Mount car onto foil board layer. Adhere flag stickers onto printed paper.

Owls and cupcakes

As soon as I saw this owl printed paper from Doodlebug I just had to get it as the owls were so cute.

\We matched some Prismatics card stock colours up with the paper and then it sat out the back for a while as we were busy. When Jill had some time she whipped up this very cute card with it.

It is a gorgeous card that has a special surprise hiding behind the owl. When you pull on the brown tab on the left of the card the brown owl disappears but there is now a blue owl and a matching Dazzler Cupcake. Great job Jill.

The Dazzler sparkly Cupcakes come in a pack of 8 (various colours) for only $5.50. They are pre-made 3D embellishments that have glitter and bling on the frosting and the cherry. There are great colours in the pack. We have used them on male and female cards. As you can imagine they have been very popular since this card went up. We have also used them on 3 other cards along with the Dazzler Presents/Gift Boxes.

Make sure you pop in to see the card as well as the other male cards we have up on display at the moment.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of my lovely customers.

As you can see we are still making more of the wonderful spring boxes. I made up this box to give to my Mum on Mother's Day . The flowers were stuck to the acetate/clear film using Glossy Accents. Diamond Glaze, Glass Finish + Dimensional Magic can also be used for this. First I put a blob of Glossy Accents on the back of each flower and let it dry. Then put another blob onto of the first blob and lay the thin strip of acetate in place. I wanted this box to appear like a bouquet of flowers which is why it has so many in it as well as a lot of ribbon. It can fold down and go into an envelope but I gave it to Mum in a box.

As most of our boxes have been flowery and pretty, Jill decided to make one for the boys. She adhered the sticker of a sailing boat to a piece of acetate/clear film and trimmed around the edges of it and attached it to the piece of cover board that sits inside the box.

Here is another box that Jill made for her sister. She used similar colours that we had used on our original class sample. She finished it off by using cream pearls in the centres of all of the flowers.

She also made a matching card . The box was folded down and put inside the card which made it much easier to slip into the envelope.
The next two boxes have been made by our customers. Jacqui made this gorgeous black, white and silver box using the Doodlebug printed paper and matching glittered stickers. The stickers are adhered to strips of acetate/clear film. To stop the backs of the stickers sticking to the box when it is closed, put bicarb soda or talcum powder on the backs of the stickers. It will stick to the areas that are sticky. Jacqui used silver ribbon  in the centre of the box and this made it look very elegant.

Gail also used the Doodlebug paper that we have in the shop at the moment and included layers silver, red and Bazzill Bling (metallic) black. Black, white and red always look stunning together especially when teamed up with metallic colours. Gail used red and silver rhinestones in the centres of the flowers and she finished her box off with a lovely little bow at the front .

What clever customers I have!!!!!!
